Making their home in Oroville, Washington, Alan and Joanie Parsons founded Diamond J Cowboy Ministries in 1992.
They have two grown children Justine and Buster, who have traveled with them. Alan was born and raised in Keremeos, B.C., Canada. He tried every sport he could think of, but nothing seemed to click until rodeo, that was where the fun was. Al has accomplishments in both Amateur, and Pro Rodeos, he holds Rookie of the Year honors and Reserve Bareback riding championships. Alan settled in California where he met and married his wife, Joanie Jacobs, also from a rodeo background. She loves barrel racing and roping, but mostly known for her trick riding abilities. She was trained by and traveled with the late Dick Griffith, a 1930’s RCA World Champion Bull Rider and Trick Rider.
Diamond J Cowboy Ministries was established in 1994. It has been non stop ever since with the Lord as their saddle pardner. Al and Joanie now travel down the road doing Cowboy Church services; they travel all over the U.S. and Canada. Currently, these services take them to High School, College, and Pro Rodeos. They host Washington Cowboy Churches: there are currently three, Central Washington Cowboy Church in Ephrata, WA and Eastern Washington Cowboy Church in Spokane, WA and North Central Washington in Omak, WA. They teach at Bible studies, host Diamond J Rodeo Camp annually, serve hospitality at rodeos, and Al is a professional rodeo announcer.
With a backdrop of over 17 years of ministry to the western world, Al & Joanie have dedicated their lives to helping others. Real people, talking to real people about a real God, making it hard for people to go to a real hell. Their past is marked with Gods call of preparation. Their present is a thriving endeavor that pushes them, challenges them, and excites them everyday. Their future is a new adventure in God. Leading them with impacting amounts of vision to change the world. Al & Joanie Parsons are bringing a dynamic, fresh, format to “Been there, done that!”
Vision:
Our purpose is to reach the farmer, rancher, rodeo cowboy, and those associated with the western world lifestyle not being reached by traditional methods. Sometimes, folks feel that the church has been too churchy for the world and the world too worldly for the church. Our intention is to break down the religious walls and meet people where they are.
Locally and abroad, Diamond J Cowboy Ministries affects thousands of youth and adults, many come to Cowboy Church, are saved, and then discipled. People find all answers to every situation in the Word of God. Jesus is like a snubbin’ post, set firm in a solid foundation, and someone to get tied up and tangled all up in. If you love excitement, Diamond J Cowboy Ministries invites others to join up for a faith filled adventure.
