TALES FROM THE TRAIL
2009 is off and running seems like a brand new start. We started planning the New Year with our Diamond J Rodeo Camp team. Plans are going gun ho ’09 Diamond J Rodeo Camp to be in Oroville at our ranch. We are so excited! Washington Cowboy Church services are going strong, we are hosting 3 and all the folks that attend are phenomenal, such huge blessings, it is amazing to see people grow in God. We were honored to host cowboy church for the Spirit of the West Gathering in Ellensburg, WA. We had a huge crowd and Al preach the Word fantastic, although he talked about me, he’s in a (little) trouble over that one. He told EVERYONE our fiasco we had on Valentine’s Day last year, yes; 2008 fell very early that morning and broke my nose. I am fine and it is very embarrassing. HSR season is upon us and we will go to some, and we are super excited to go to Ellensburg, WA to do their Easter service. It is such a blessing to share Resurrection Sunday with the youth at their rodeo and they are all so much fun. The spring fair in Asotin, WA starts our Pro circuit for the season. I have started “Cowgirls Devo” devotion on my email; I have been getting it out pretty regular and if you want on the devotion list send me your email! Al started a “Power Up” for the guys so likewise let us know if you want on the list, these will get you up and winning in life! British Columbia Rodeo Association rodeos in Princeton, BC, and in Keremeos, BC are coming up in May; please pray we have a massive effect on the cowboys there in Canada. Let’s get back to ‘what’s up for DJRC’, well it will be the best camp yet, great coaches will come, the best youth in the Pacific Northwest will come! In 2008, we introduced JR Camp now our ages groups are updated, we had 59 campers and 14 were baptized! This year we are having this at the ranch, so we will be camping, paintball, go to the lake, have a worship team, oh yea, of course most important we will work really hard at RODEO! Life as a cowboy preacher is the best! We love to see people change their ways to better their lives, lives that are truly full! PRCA rodeos are growing every year we are in California and Idaho this year! What a huge blessing. We spent more time out on the road than ever before. Very special to us to spend our time serving others WOW, Lord. It is so special to serve Him. We hope to end the rodeo season at Pro-West Rodeo Association Finals, British Columbia Rodeo Assoc finals, and then December serving at the WNFR. Cowboy Church there was fantastic, many listened intensely, lots of folks attended and lives were touched in 2008, which we trust for in 2009. We had the PWRA banquet and Al got Announcer 2008. Thanksgiving, it is my fav holiday! My parents were here visiting and my kids came home too! The only one that wasn’t able to make it, is my special outlaw, Noel. Thanksgiving is the best because it is my time to truly feel the thankfulness that I feel daily with those I love the most, my family. It is a simple holiday, be thankful, eat, spend quality time, and no pressure. I love Jesus’ birthday too. Except this Christmas I think we missed it? We were intently caring for Al’s Mom, who made her 87th year on Christmas Eve, then went home with Jesus the 29th. We had her life celebration January 5th. I will remember her everyday that I live. This wraps up where we’ve been and where we will be this year, well, not quite all so…
2 B continued… All my love, Joanie
